About the Sahlgrenska Psychiatric Research and Education Centre

In 2011 a decision was taken to set up the Centre for Psychiatry. The Centre of Expertise and Research comprises a network for clinical psychiatric research and education at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The Centre for Psychiatry takes a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach in performing and stimulating both high-quality research and educational activities in the psychiatric field. The Centre is led by Professor Mikael Landen and Senior Lecturer Anna Söderpalm Gordh.
Researchers linked to the Centre are investigating major psychiatric disorders such as psychoses, dependency disorders, affective disorders and anxiety disorders. The Centre also collaborates closely with the disciplines of biological and behavioural sciences. The Centre also offers professional training and research for doctors, as well as postgraduate studies in psychiatry. The target is to double the number of doctoral students, postdoctoral students and postgraduate theses in the field.

In summary, the Centre:

- Stimulates research and training closely linked to clinical practice
- Offers an arena for scientific exchange
- Comprises a stimulating academic environment
- Stimulates interdisciplinary collaboration with basic scientific research
- Disseminates information to the non-academic world, the third task of the university.
